My martial arts career started with Taekwon-Do at the age of 13. I trained for several years and reached 2nd Dan. But with the years, I felt more and more, that we were merely training athletics. Nobody really taught us how to win a fight. After some forays to some other styles I began with Wing Tsung Kung Fu. There I first met those guys that were trying to hit each others with a stick. Of course, I had to try that tooJ. From then on, I was caught. After training Escrima in a different organisation, I was lucky to meet Master Steve, who was beginning to build up his Escrima Concepts organisation. I was happy to learn Escrima Concepts first hand.

My interest in martial arts was sparked by my father, who was very enthusiastic about boxing. He believed that a boy should be able to defend himself. So he showed me some tricks from his “wild” days. His young days were the main reason, why my mother agreed to let me study self defence. At the age of 12 I began to learn Shotokan Karate. I did this till a professional Taekwon-Do school opened its gates nearby. Later a friend asked me, if I wanted to join him as a doorman when I was only 17. I still work on the door as a part time job. For this job I needed better skills, so I started with boxing and Thai-boxing. In 1991 a friend told me about a Chinese martial arts called Wing Tsun. I visited the club and I have to blame myself, that I got a hit on the nose ;-))….............  I joined immediately! Half a year later we started with Escrima. It was love on the first sight, and it still lasts today. Three years later I was asked if I wanted to teach. This was a big honour for me. The next crucial experience was my first seminar with Steve. I never experienced such a way of teaching Escrima before.

The former owner of the club where we trained and taught didn’t fit in with certain Alliance future plans. Some friends and us decided to stay with Master Steve, and we want to thank Master Steve for all his great support and motivation he gave us during that time. And we want to greet all the others of the Escrima Concepts and WMAA family Stevie, Wayne, Big Paul, Ammo, Nic, Arini, Thomas and many more. They gave us their support and the feeling to be welcome in the family. We decided to start our own Escrima Concepts club in Munich, and opened a club in January 2007.
