Escrima Concepts: Lee Dedicated to Martial Arts & Dedicated to His Members

Lee Paul Heron is the Head Instructor of the UK Kung-Fu Federation, a non-political organisation based in Kingston Upon Thames devoted to the tuition, research, development & advancement of the martial arts. Our use of the term 'Kung-Fu' refers to all skills gained through hard work over a long period of time, a very correct attitude when studying these beautiful, rewarding arts. No quick-fixes, no short-cuts, no substitute for effort or quality on the part of teacher & student alike. The UKKFF focuses on WingTsun Kung-Fu as its primary unarmed art, and the Escrima Concepts weapon system for all aspects of armed combat training.

Born in 1974, Lee began his martial arts journey at age 15 with Shotokan Karate and later, Judo before discovering & falling in love with the Wing Chun Kung-Fu style in 1996. After training in WC for 3 years, he discovered the more developed Leung Ting system of WingTsun in 1999 and spent 7 further years immersed in the art, completing the 3rd Technician programme with the UK arm of the EWTO, becoming a full-time instructor in 2002. He was first introduced to Escrima through Master Steve Tappin, studying with him in EWTO seminars between 1999-2001. His love of weapons began to flourish, although due to politics it was to be almost 5 years before he was able to meet up once again with Master Steve in late 2005 & resume his own private training through the structure of the World Martial Arts Alliance, of which the UK Kung-Fu Federation is a full member.

Escrima Concepts: Lee Progressing WT & EC at every opportunity

Having spent more than 15 years studying unarmed systems, Lee was amazed to discover that Escrima Concepts not only blended perfectly with his existing knowledge, but improved & augmented it in several key ways. His training became more dynamic, more focused & more fluid, yet at the same time much softer & more aware of pressure. In addition it became apparent that the concepts of Escrima were virtually identical to those of correct unarmed Kung-Fu, containing a huge amount of depth & knowledge. It became clear that his previous studies of Escrima had only scratched the surface of this fascinating art, so now he is gradually exploring the many different weapons within the full Escrima Concepts system and offering all his students access to this extremely well-developed martial art through regular seminars & workshops with Master Steve and his team of friendly instructors.
