Sifu Mik Lane - A Good Man To Have On Your Side

What makes the man? - After leaving school he joined the RAF Regiment. After 6 months service he was posted to Germany where he worked the rest of 5 years service. After leaving the regiment he began work as an Armed Security Guard. This was followed by 6 years Diplomatic Security. In 1996 Sifu Mik moved back to England and began teaching Martial Arts, using his Doorman work for extra practice. In 2004 he Founded the Wing Tyun Kung-Fu Organisation (WTKO) and has Instructors and students across the UK.

Sifu Mik has been training in Martial Arts for over 30 years. At the age of 10 he started with Atemi-Jutsu and continued his Martial Arts education by learning, Shotokan Karate, Lau Gar, Kick Boxing, Shaolin Kempo and Aikido. He also familiarised himself with Boxing, Ju-jitsu, Tae Kwon Do, Thai Boxing and Judo. Always searching but never quite finding the Martial Art he was looking for.

Then in 1993 he discovered Wing Tsun. Originally taught in Germany - Sifu Mik began teaching the Art in the UK in 1996. As the years went on, he began to become more involved in Escrima and also began training with the European Historical Combat Guild. In order to gain more knowledge and the correct information, there was a greater need to travel and train with other WT Instructors and Masters.

In 2001 there was massive turmoil within his former WT organisation and many were affected. Although the students were still receiving good information, the need to look for new sources became imperative. The only way to continue training and giving the students the best information that was available was to resign and go independent. Sifu Mik continued looking for the real Wing Tsun. This transition was only possible due to the continued support and guidance given by Master Steve Tappin (Escrima Concepts) and the Danish WT Organisation.

Mik & Mike EC Training

In 2003 Sifu Mik was in a position to form the Wing Tyun Kung-Fu Organisation, which is also part of the ‘World Martial Arts Alliance’. His new organisation gives students access to many Masters and Instructors all over the world. It allows his students to grow and train in many different Martial Arts. For the first time Masters are coming to The Midlands to give seminars. The creation of the Alliance has given Instructors and students the independence to train in WT and gain correct information with the security of a good family of fellow Martial Artists to guide and support them. Sifu Mik has gone through much in 30 years but has always loved his martial arts and he always takes care of his members.

Sifu Mik Lane and his wife Simo Nicky Lane are highly regarded in the Alliance and especially with Master Steve - Nicky has been a rock whenever needed and her energy and support knows no bounds.
