After more than 30 years of hard work Head Instructor Stephen Kinvig received his well earned and long overdue promotion to Master Grade in Escrima Concepts - which was presented in Wales in front of 120 people who attended the seminar, including Master Stephen’s instructors and students who travelled to support their teacher and keep the surprise.

Apart from a long life study of martial arts within our own martial art he has studied and is a teacher of others arts, in fact, he was perhaps the first UK instructor to receive a Kali certificate from Guru Danny Inasanto, as he had spent time in America training in LA before he settled down to help build what is now known as Escrima Concepts. He helped give us an early insight into what other systems like Kali were doing and he was actually involved in bringing Danny over |
for his first martial arts visit to the UK. Master Stephen has always enjoyed other arts (ask his Sunday submission class) and it is this openness that he and our board of Masters share that shows why the Alliance works. We take this opportunity to thank him for services to Escrima Concepts and congratulate him. Hopefully he will not have to wait so long for his next level ;-).
